SONGKHLA -- An elderly vegetable vendor was killed after a motorcycle she was driving was hit by a train at a railway crossing in Hat Yai district on Thursday morning, police said. 948 (Padang Besar - Hat Yai) was passing the railway crossing at Ban Khlongya Nua village after an automatic barrier there had been lowered. The oncoming train hit the motorcycle, killing the woman, who was thrown by the impact about three metres from the spot. The motorcycle was dragged by the train for about 300 metres away, badly damaged. No damage was made to the train, which proceeded to Hat Yai shortly afterward.
